Gymnastics
is a wonderful sport for kids, and can help them develop coordination,
strength, balance, flexibility and so much more. It can also build
self-esteem, and improve skills such as self-discipline and concentration.
Plus, being a gymnast is a lot of fun!
The Right Age
Children can start in gymnastics as young as 3 years. Gymnastics
clubs vary, but usually classes are grouped by age, and as your
child progresses in the sport, s/he will later be grouped by ability
level.
The classes will be structured
to develop your child in strength, co ordination and suppleness.
Stretching will be a core element used in Gymnastics. Balance will
be worked on every class and co-ordination for the child to be able
to learn basic tumbling movements eg forward and backward rolls,
splits etc., This will progress to forward and backward walkovers
and eventually to back flips and tumbles. |
